Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by vehicle

Newport Road was closed for several hours at Bradley Road in Menifee after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Saturday night, police said.

About 8 p.m., an adult male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at or near the intersection of Newport and Bradley, said Sheriff's Deputy Robyn Flores. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Two people were inside the vehicle that struck the pedestrian, and police are still trying to determine which one was driving at the time, Flores said. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
