The Paloma Valley High School girls volleyball team is going to the CIF finals.
Making the long trip to Calabasas, the Wildcats defeated Viewpoint High in four sets -- 25-21, 18-25, 27-25, 25-22 -- Saturday night in the CIF Southern Section Division 5 semifinals. Paloma Valley, undefeated league champions, improved its overall record to 26-6 and will be at home Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. against Ontario Christian in the CIF championship match.
Jayde Shelton led the Wildcats with 13 kills and Channa Hart had 12. Melanie Maclin had 5 blocks and set a school record with 61 blocks for the season. On defense, Gabby Hollins and Kayla Thompson each had 10 digs. In addition, Olivia Karwin had 35 assists and 2 aces, while Chloe Price served 4 aces.
Paloma Valley's opponent in the finals will be a tough one. Ontario Christian is 33-2 overall and is seeded No. 1 in the division.
