Menifee Soap Box Derby, Multicultural Festival postponed

Two events scheduled for Saturday as part of the City of Menifee's 10th anniversary have been postponed because of bad weather.

The Soap Box Derby, scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Menifee Road, has been postponed, it was announced early Saturday morning by Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District.

"Due to the weather and slick roads, we are forced to cancel the soap box derby," the announcement read. "One of the rules is safety of participants and we want to err on the side of caution. The setup for an event like this is a lengthy process, but we’re going to regroup and discuss rescheduling."

The City of Menifee announced late Friday night that the Multicultural Festival, also scheduled for Saturday morning, has been postponed because of rain. It will be rescheduled to a later date.
