Heritage, Paloma Valley on road for football playoff openers

Heritage and Paloma Valley will both be on the road Friday night in CIF football playoff openers.

The CIF Southern Section office announced on Sunday that Heritage (7-3) will open the Division 2 playoffs at Upland, which finished the regular season with an 8-2 record. Both teams lost their regular-season finales -- Heritage lost 17-10 to Rancho Verde and Upland lost 34-20 to Rancho Cucamonga.

In Division 3, Paloma Valley faces the unenviable task of playing at top-seeded Cajon. The Wildcats lost their season opener at Cajon, 48-7.

Paloma Valley finished 0-3 in league play but got into the playoffs based on a 5-5 overall record.
