Funds sought to help return ailing resident from overseas

Friends and family members have organized a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising enough funds to bring a Menifee resident home from an overseas hospital.

Ted Davis is a 20-year resident of Menifee and a photographer who has been a frequent contributor to Menifee 24/7 with his works of art. According to the website organized to raise funds to assist him, Davis was vacationing in Rome with his wife when he tripped on a cobblestone path and took a very hard fall. Complications set in and the cruise ship he was aboard was re-routed to Athens, Greece, where he has been hospitalized since Oct. 18.

Davis' daughter-in-law, Sarah Montgomery, said Davis has been on a ventilator. Doctors are trying to stabilize him so he can be airlifted to the U.S., but the cost of an air ambulance is expected to be over $100,000.

Davis is well known in the community and was named Artist of the Month by Arts Council Menifee in September 2013 for his photography work. Davis is a Vietnam veteran and served 23 years in the Coast Guard.
