The County Coroner has identified Menifee resident Samuel Selay as the deceased person found in the waters of Lake Elsinore. |
The County Coroner has identified the body of a man found in the waters of Lake Elsinore Thursday as a Menifee man who had been missing for nearly a week.
Samuel Selay, 34, was last seen Oct. 20, when he was kayaking on the lake. According to police reports, his vehicle and kayak were found near the lake but the body was not discovered until Thursday. That ended a week-long search that included boats, sonar and other search methods.
Selay's wife, Brittney, wrote about her husband's death on her Facebook page.
"Sam was a wonderful man," Brittney Selay wrote. "He wanted to inspire others to pursue greatness and see their inner strength. He was dedicated, loyal, and the best father you've ever meet.
"My entire world is broken -- every dream we had, every goal, all the milestones our children have to get through without him, places left untraveled, dreams broken at the seams."
The couple has four children, ages 3-17. A GoFundMe account has been established to assist the family. Click on the link below.
