Ika Tuatala and Kenny Teter ran for two touchdowns each and Tre St. Claire made two big defensive plays Friday night as the Heritage High School football team beat Elsinore easily, 35-7.
The Patriots improved their record to 4-2 heading into next Friday's game at Temescal Canyon. That's the last nonleague game before Heritage begins Ivy League play against Paloma Valley Oct. 12 at home.
Tuatala opened the scoring with an 87-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Soon after, St. Claire intercepted an Elsinore pass, giving the ball back to Heritage. It didn't take long for the Patriots to make it 14-0 on a 56-yard touchdown run by Teter.
In the second quarter, Tutala was at it again, running 35 yards for a score. The PAT kick failed but Heritage led 20-0. Heritage got the ball back again on a fumble recovery by St. Claire, setting up Teter's 65-yard TD run. The score was 27-0 at halftime.
Heritage's final score came in the third quarter on a 35-yard run by quarterback Trey Goodlow. A two-point PAT run by Tutala made it 35-0. Elsinore's only score came in the fourth quarter, making the final score 35-7.
