A suspect who had been at large following a murder Sunday in Perris was arrested the next day and is being held with bail set at $1 million, authorities said.
Enrique Alberto Lazaro-Valencia was located and arrested in the city of Ontario, according to a news release. He was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility and charged with the murder of 26-year-old Perris resident Arturo Angel. He has a Thursday court date at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
On Sept. 16, 2018, at 1 a.m., officers assigned to the Perris Police Department were dispatched to a report of a shooting near the intersection of B Street and Red Maple Place in Perris. When officers arrived, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. The male, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was later identified as Angel.
Detectives from the Perris Police Department and the Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. Further investigation revealed that Lazaro-Valencia, a 29-year-old male from Moreno Valley, was involved in the death of Angel.
