Menifee 24/7 and the City of Menifee are teaming up to host a night of fun, food and movie magic Oct. 6 at the Menifee Eat ‘N Sing Food Truck Festival.
With the theme of “The Wizard of Oz”, guests are invited to dress up as their favorite character from the movie. After listening to professional and local musical acts based on Broadway musicals, the night will be capped off by the showing of “The Wizard of Oz” on a big screen. It will be a sing-along affair, with words appearing on the screen during songs for guests to sing along.
All the while, those in attendance can purchase food from the many food trucks that will be on site. True to the tradition of food festivals previously sponsored by Menifee 24/7, a variety of foods will be available from trucks including:
The Deli Doctor, which serves killer pastrami sandwiches.
S&B Catering, featuring their famous Mexican cuisine.
Rice Balls of Fire, featuring rice bowls, sushi burritos, grilled cheese and more with a Korean, Japanese and Hawaiian flavor.
Epic Eatz, famous for their Baja shrimp tacos.
Frankie’s Frozen Treats – dessert, anyone?
Meat Up BBQ Truck, which serves smoked meats including Tri Tip, pulled pork, chicken, St. Louis ribs, bratwurst and more,
Dang Brothers Pizza, with wood-fired pizza of all kinds.
Marcel’s Waffles, serving imported Belgium waffles served with fresh berries and chocolate.
There will also be a “Flying Monkey Zone” with jumpers for the kids. While all this is taking place, performers will take to the stage, including:
Members of the cast of the Mt. San Jacinto College musical production “Parade.”
The Starlight Singers youth song and dance group from Menifee.
The Menifee Valley Middle School Eagle Choir.
The Pawformers from Paloma Valley High School.
A 20-piece orchestra from Ethan A. Chase Middle School.
Local solo performers AnAhi Garcia-Roriguez, winner of the Boys & Girls Club’s “The One” competition, and Nicole Sanford.
The Combe Family Singers, a professional group from San Gabriel Valley that performs a variety of show tunes.
We’ll be watching throughout the event to identify all those cute little Dorothy’s, Scarecrows, Tin Men, Cowardly Lions, Wicked Witches, Good Witches and any other great Wizard of Oz costumes you come up with. Be ready, because we might call you up on stage for a group photo!
Then it will be time to settle in and watch the classic Wizard of Oz movie and sing along with all your favorites, including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.”
It all starts at 4 p.m. on Oct. 6 at La Ladera Park, located at 29629 La Ladera Road in Menifee. Make your plans to join us for a fun evening!
