Fatal accident on Highway 74 affects area traffic

Three adults died Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 74 in Lake Elsinore, police said.

The accident appeared to be a head-on crash and occurred about 1:20 p.m. on Highway 74 at El Toro Cutoff Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The highway was closed at that point and traffic was re-directed to alternate routes during a traffic investigation. The road was re-opened at 8 p.m.

No other details were immediately available and the victims were not identified.
