Carvalho leads way in Wildcats' win over Temecula Valley

Mason Carvalho rushed for 228 yards and 3 touchdowns Friday night to help the Paloma Valley High School football team break open a tight game in the second half and defeat Temecula Valley, 48-21.

Carvalho, the Wildcats' 5-foot-5, 150-pound quarterback, had touchdown runs of 25, 31 and 75 yards -- the last two coming early in the second half to break a 21-21 halftime tie. Paloma Valley improved its season record to 3-2 with the win over Temecula Valley, coached by former Paloma Valley head coach Bert Esposito.

Dereus Dortch added to the success of the Wildcats' running game with 155 yards rushing, including a 66-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Jaylin Rembert had a 53-yard touchdown run in the first half.

Paloma Valley will be at home against Notre Dame High of Riverside next Friday.
