Quarterback Mason Carvalho and running back Dereus Dortch ran for thee touchdowns each and combined for nearly 400 yards rushing Friday night as the Paloma Valley High School football team scored a 48-21 victory over Notre Dame.
The Wildcats (4-2) scored the first 34 points of the game, cruising through the second half on the way to the win. They are preparing to play host to Arlington next Friday before opening Ivy League play at Heritage on Oct 12.
Carvalho opened the scoring with a 60-yard run just over a minute into the game. Dortch followed with a 25-yard TD run later in the quarter and Carvalho followed that with a 50-yard run, giving Paloma Valley a three-touchdown lead before the first period had ended.
Another Dortch touchdown run in the second quarter made it 28-0, and Lucas Scott returned a fumble 99 yards for the Wildcats for a 34-0 lead.
Notre Dame scored two touchdowns before halftime to make the score 34-14 at the break.
In the third quarter, Carvalho ran 7 yards for a score and Dortch scored on a 53-yard run. Notre Dame's only second-half touchdown came on a pass in the third quarter.
