Running back Kenny Teter ran for two touchdowns and quarterback Trey Goodlow ran for another Friday night to lead the Heritage High School football team to a 24-7 victory over visiting Oak Hills in the Patriots' season opener.
After giving up a touchdown to the Bulldogs on their first offensive series, the Patriots dominated the rest of the game. Behind the leadership of new starting quarterback Goodlow, the offense churned out yardage on the ground, getting good protection from the offensive line.
Teter ran 38 yards for a touchdown late in the first quarter and the PAT kick tied the score. It was 14-7 at halftime after Teter ran 3 yards for another score in the second quarter. Meanwhile, the Patriot defense was shutting down the Oak Hills offense.
Javier Pedraza, who made three PAT kicks, booted a 23-yard field goal in the third quarter. Heritage's final score came on a 2-yard run by Goodlow with about two minutes left in the game.
Goodlow rushed for 80 yards and Teter 73 for the Patriots, who are home again next week against Great Oak.
