Holy Fire doubles in size overnight; homes threatened

Fueled by dry brush and increasing winds, the Holy Fire doubled in size overnight, now having covered more than 18,100 acres, fire officials said.

Flames came dangerously close to homes in Lake Elsinore, but heroic efforts by firefighters have prevented the loss of structures. More than 1,200 personnel are fighting the fire, according to Cleveland National Forest officials. The fire still is only 5 percent contained. More than 22,000 residents have been evacuated.
