Couple arrested at Motel 6 with stolen vehicle, firearm

A Perris couple was arrested at a Menifee motel Tuesday after officers discovered them in possession of an illegal firearm and vehicle, police said.

Sheriff's Department deputies were conducting a business check at the Motel 6, 27955 Encanto Drive, about 2 p.m. when they learned a subject was in possession of an illegal firearm, according to a news release. Deputies contacted Marcos Saldana, 32, and Erica Trujillo, 35, and discovered a stolen vehicle Saldana had driven to the location.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a firearm that had been stolen out of Texas. Saladana was arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on weapon and vehicle theft charges. Trujillo had an outstanding felony warrant and was also booked into jail.
