The City of Menifee's first-ever football camp for youth has been named after the late Mayor Neil Winter and will be held July 14 at Audie Murphy Ranch Sports Park.
The Neil Winter Football Camp is free and open to youth ages 5-17. Campers will learn the fundamentals, safety, speed training and basics of football mechanics from a variety of current and former pro football players. Lunch will be provided to the first 150 registered participants and the first 100 members will receive a free camp T-shirt and raffle tickets for prizes.
As part of the "Take Back the Neighborhood" program, the camp will feature NFL players including Chargers middle linebacker Denzel Perryman; Sherman Cocroft, retired defensive back for the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers; former Redskins, Broncos, and Vikings tight end Bryon Chamberlain; Ron Brown, a former Raiders and Rams wide receiver; Jaguars and Steelers safety Travis Davis; and Quinn Early, a former wide receiver for the Chargers and Saints. Autographs and photo opportunities will be available.
Registration can be made through the Community Services Department at www.cityofmenifee.us or in person at 29995 Evans Road. Registration will take place the day of the camp, but may cause participants to miss portion of the camp. For more information, contact the City of Menifee Community Services Department at 951-723-3880.
