Menifee 24/7 honors area high school athletes for their accomplishments. Coaches of each sport are invited to submit one athlete per week for recognition. Here are this week's honorees from Paloma Valley High School:
Tennis player Carter Portman entered the week with a 28-0 record in Sunbelt League singles competition. He recently won the league singles championship, defeating Temescal Canyon's Jack Wong, 6-4, 6-0. Carter will lead his team into the CIF team playoffs.
The boys track 4x400 relay team of Mason Carvalho, Nathan Lathan, Aaron Moore and Wyatt Provencher won the league title in their event and broke the school record.
Girls track athlete Aysia Davis won the Sunbelt League championship in the 100 meters with a time of 12.52. She also anchored the 400 relay team, where she took the baton in fourth place and sprinted past a few other girls to a second-place finish. Davis also finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 25.72. She qualified for Division 1 CIF Prelims in all thrtee of her events and will be competing Saturday at Trabucco Hills High School for a chance to move on the CIF Finals.
