Menifee 24/7 honors area high school athletes for their accomplishments. Coaches of each sport are invited to submit one athlete per week for recognition. Here is this week's honoree from Paloma Valley High School:
Tennis player Orlando Garcia is 9-0 in Sunbelt League doubles play. Orlando, and his doubles partner Carlo Berjamin, has been behind many times in points/games but came back to win the match.
"Orlando makes practice a priority and even puts in more time after practice to work on his tennis game," said his coach, Reagan Williams. "Orlando is a very determined young man can always be heard cheering his teammates on to do better. One of the team goals this season is to, again, go deep in the CIF playoffs, and this young man is totally focused on that goal."
Aysia Davis of the girls track team recently set personal bests in the 100 meters (12.72) and 200 (26.62). She also anchors the 400-meter relay team. "She is our top sprinter and leads her teammates through her hard work, humble demeanor and dedication to the sport," said coach Juan Merida.
