Menifee 24/7 honors area high school athletes for their accomplishments. Coaches of each sport are invited to submit one athlete per week for recognition. Here are this week's honorees from Heritage High School:
Kaleigh Giannone continues to have an excellent spring season for the girls track team. She ran a personal best of 45.74 in the 300-meter hurdles in the prestigious Arcadia Invitational on April 7. Competing against top athletes from around the nation, Giannone broke the school record she had previously broken twice last season. This was the first time Heritage has ever had a female hurdler at the Arcadia meet.
Last weekend, Giannone set another personal best with a time of 45.69 in the 300 hurdles at the Inland Empire Championships. She medaled in the invitational heat. This weekend, she will compete in the same event at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut.
Thomas Parker of the baseball team went 4 for 7 with 2 RBIs and a game-winning hit in a recent game against Lakeside.
Relay teams are honored this week from the swimming program. The girls 400 freestyle relay team of Katelyn Thomas, JennaLee Taylor, Morgan Cortez and Ava Fernandes set a school record and CIF consideration time in a recent meet. The boys 200 medley relay team of Eric Tillet, Matt Castillo, Cori Perez and Rei Saclolo set a school record in the CIF consideration time. Perez also set a school record in the 200 freestyle.
