Bicyclist airlifted from off-road trail after emergency call

An adult male bicyclist reported to have a medical emergency in an off-road area west of the 215 Freeway and south of Keller Road was located and airlifted to safety Monday afternoon, according to Fire Department officials.

The man, who was not identified, was reported to be in a hilly area southwest of Scenic View Drive and Keller Road that is frequented by hikers and bicyclists. Firefighters established an incident command post and a Sheriff's Department helicopter located the patient.

The man was transported to awaiting paramedics for evaluation. He declined further treatment. Many motorists passing the command post alongside the 215 Freeway inquired about the incident on social media.
