Five students of French at Heritage High School recently competed at the 6th annual French Poetry Recitation Contest at Cal State Los Angeles, and two of them took first place.
Sophomore Edem Sedor won first place in Division French 2 by reciting "Poeme a Mon Frere Blanc" by Leopold Senghor. Senior Carlos Gonzalez placed first in Division French 3 by reciting "Demain Des L'Aube" by Victor Hugo. In addition, junior Fernada Vega placed third in Division French 3 by reciting "Les Feuilles Mortes: by Jacques Prevert.
Kacie Gammill and Kimberly Sandoval also represented Heritage High in the event. There were 44 contestants from 10 high schools. Heritage was one of only two public high schools competing against private schools.
