One adult was transported to a hospital for injuries suffered when a silver sedan collided with a school bus Tuesday at the intersection of Holland Road and Mountain Cliff Road in Menifee, police said.
No students were in the school bus at the time of the accident about 3:30 p.m., said Sheriff's Deputy Mike Vasquez. The bus was a Hemet Unified School District bus that is contracted to transport students through a Riverside County Office of Education program, said Candace Reines of the Perris Unified School District.
The accident happened in front of the new Lago Vista Sports Park on Holland Road and just west of Southshore Elementary School. No one else was injured and the cause of the accident is under investigation, Vasquez said.
Residents have expressed concern about increased traffic at that location. Sidewalks in front of the sports park leading toward the elementary school were recently installed. There is a stop sign for traffic turning onto Holland Road from Mountain Cliff Road at the T intersection, but no stop for Holland motorists and no crosswalk for pedestrians.
