Five standout senior athletes at Heritage High School signed national letters of intent Wednesday, accepting college scholarships.
The group included football players Sherod White (Montana State), Jesse Estrada (College of Idaho) and Avante Robbs (Dixie State). Swimmer Katelyn Thomas signed with Concordia University and volleyball player Skyelar McIntyre committed to Benedictine University.
White rushed for more than 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns last season for the Patriots, who finished the season with an 11-2 record. He will be given the chance to compete for playing time at running back at Montana State.
"It's a great school," White said about Montana State. "All they want to do is win and I like winning. The type of offense they run, they have a position for me. There's a chance I could play right away."
Estrada started at both running back and linebacker last fall, making 61 tackles and rushing for about 300 yards. He chose College of Idaho over University of Redlands and Cal Lutheran. He will major in business.
Robbs will be a valuable addition on the line at Dixie State College in Utah. He will fit in the team's plans on the offensive line at center or guard.
McIntyre said Benedictine was her choice because of the relationships she is developing with coaches there and a friend who already attends that university in Mesa, Arizona. Thomas became the first aquatics athlete to accept a scholarship from Heritage with her commitment to Concordia University in Irvine.
