Female pedestrian killed in collision involving two vehicles

A Hemet woman died Tuesday night when she walked into the westbound lanes of Highway 74 and was struck by two vehicles, police said.

The Coroner's Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Deena Ledesma. According to a Sheriff's Department news release, investigation indicated that she walked into the roadway against a red light and was struck first by one vehicle, then another. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident was reported at 8:17 p.m. on Highway 74 and Menifee Road. The highway was closed for several hours at that point during the investigation. Both drivers cooperated with police on scene. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor.
