Paloma Valley High School linebacker Steven Bradshaw has won the ultimate prep football honor, being recognized as Division 5 CIF Defensive Player of the Year.
Bradshaw (right), one of seven Wildcats named to the All-CIF team, was dominant all season long and was the focus of opposing players and coaches' attention. He led Paloma Valley to the CIF Southern Section semifinals and a 10-3 overall record.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior finished the season with 161 total tackles (98 solo), averaging 12.4 tackles per game with a total of 15 tackles for loss. He also had two interceptions this season. In his varsity career, Bradshaw was in on 341 tackles -- 167 solo tackles.
Paloma Valley was well represented elsewhere on the All-CIF team. Quarterback Chance Nolan (below left) made the team after passing for 3,797 yards and 43 touchdowns and rushing for 740 yards and 3 TDs. Receivers Mason Carvalho (75 catches, 1,349 yards, 16 TDs) and Koale Schroeder (57 catches, 1,137 yards, 17 TDs) also made the offensive team.
The defensive team includes defensive back Thomas Eddington, lineman KK Lokusooriya and linebacker Phillip Mills.
Two players from Heritage High School were named to the Division 2 team -- running back Sherod White and offensive lineman Avante Robbs. White rushed for 1,416 yards and 20 touchdowns for the Patriots, who advanced to the CIF semifinals and finished the season with an 11-2 record.
