Menifee 24/7 honors area high school athletes for their accomplishments. Coaches of each sport are invited to submit one athlete per week for recognition. Here are this week's Athletes of the Week at Paloma Valley High School:
Soccer player Samantha Ritchie plays holding midielder and at times center midfielder. "Sam is one of our captains; she controls that hold mid spot like a shark," said coach Carlos Alfaro. "Also, she has the longest throw-ins in the league and is very dangerous with head balls on corner kicks. She has the hardest shot on the team. Sam is a major part of our success." The team is 16-0-3 overall and 7-0 in league play.
Boys basketball player Chance Nolan averaged 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.5 assists per game last week. "In addition, he is a leader of this team and keeps the team moving in the right direction," said coach Craig Anderson. The Wildcats are 18-6 overall and 6-1 in league play.
