One person died and two others were injured in a head-on collision in Canyon Lake Thursday morning, police said.
Sheriff's deputies responded at 6:50 a.m. to an area near the intersection of Vacation Drive and Yosemite Place, according to a news release. Three vehicles were involved in the collision and three people were injured, two of them with minor injuries. The third, a 29-year-old Canyon Lake resident, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
According to police, drugs appear to be a factor in the collision. The investigation revealed that a vehicle was driving westbound on Vacation Drive and veered into the eastbound lanes, striking a vehicle head-on. The driver of the vehicle that veered into oncoming traffic died as a result of the accident.
The name of the deceased has not been released and no other information was made available while the investigation continues. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Officer Fraley of the Perris Station Traffic Team at 951-210-1000.
