Little information released on reported assault in Menifee

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department has confirmed the ongoing investigation of an alleged assault in Menifee but has released few details on the incident.

Deputies responded early Thursday afternoon to the report of an assault with a deadly weapon on the border of the Tierra Shores community, Deputy Armando Munoz told Menifee 24/7. The location was Briggs Road in the vicinity of Old Newport Road and Angler Lane on the east border of the gated community bordering Domenigoni Parkway.

Munoz said an adult male was transported with injuries to a local hospital. He said reports from area residents to Menifee 24/7 that a person died at the scene was not accurate. The area was closed to traffic for several hours Thursday during the investigation.

There is no suspect in custody and the investigation is ongoing, Munoz said. Menifee 24/7 is continuing to pursue details.
