The high school football season ended Friday night for Paloma Valley and Heritage with losses in the semifinals of their respective CIF divisions.
Paloma Valley came up on the short end of a 55-35 decision at Paraclete, the top-seeded team in Division 5. The Wildcats fell behind 27-7 at halftime and couldn't recover, finishing the season with a 10-3 record.
Wildcats quarterback Chance Nolan passed for 240 yards and five touchdowns -- three of them to Koale Schroeder, who caught five passes for 141 yards. Mason Carvalho and Seth Carvalho each caught a touchdown pass. Tyrese Tillman rushed for 106 yards.
Heritage was also on the road Friday, playing at Valencia High in a Division 2 game. The Patriots lost a shootout to the Vikings by 52-34 score, ending their season with an 11-2 record.
Sherod White rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback Devan Freedland passed for 257 yards and two TDs. But the Patriots fell behind 21-0 and couldn't keep up with the Vikings the rest of the way.
