Menifee's local high school football teams advanced to the CIF football semifinals in their respective divisions with easy victories Friday night.
Paloma Valley improved its record to 10-2 with a 56-21 rout of Yucaipa in Division 5. Quarterback Chance Nolan had another big game, passing for 390 yards and three touchdowns. The senior has now passed for more than 3,500 yards this season. Tyrese Tillman caught two of the touchdown passes and Mason Carvalho caught one. Carvalho finished with eight catches for 125 yards.
Paloma Valley broke open a 14-14 game with 28 unanswered points in the second quarter. The Wildcats defense, led by linebacker Steven Bradshaw, forced five turnovers by Yucaipa (10-2).
Next Friday, the Wildcats play at top-seeded Paraclete of Lancaster in the Division 5 semifinals. Paraclete is 11-1.
In Division 2, Heritage used five interceptions to help defeat Calabasas, 41-7. The Patriots (11-1) led 28-7 at halftime and cruised to victory. Sherod White and James Phillips each rushed for more than 120 yards, with White scoring three touchdowns.
Quarterback Devan Freedland passed for 125 yards and two touchdowns, improving his season passing yardage total to nearly 1,800 yards.
Next Friday, Heritage plays at Valencia High, which also is 11-1 this season.
