A Menifee man has a court date on Wednesday to face charges of DUI and hit and run with injury after he allegedly drove his vehicle into a crowd of people at the Perris Railway Museum on Sunday, authorities said.
The incident took place about 4:30 p.m., when Sheriff's officers on duty at the museum during the "Thomas the Train" event witnessed a Brown Chevrolet Tahoe enter the property by means of the railroad tracks. The vehicle turned off the tracks and onto a pedestrian walkway, causing adults and children to flee its path.
The vehicle continued onto a closed roadway before being stopped by officers. Carlos Jaime Gabaldon, 37, of the Romoland community of Menifee was arrested on site. He has remained in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Two people received minor injuries in the accident.
