Members of the Menifee City Council have reduced a field of 45 applicants for the position of city manager to seven candidates who will interview for the job on Friday.
Menifee Mayor Neil Winter said the original list was cut down to 10, then to seven for the interview process, which is expected to take much of Friday at City Hall. That list will be "knocked down to three or four for a second interview," Winter said.
"We've been working with a consulting firm and have been supplied a very good list of questions to ask of the applicants," Winter said. "It will be more in-depth than when you're interviewing for an interim city manager."
Ron Bradley, who is serving as interim city manager, must be replaced in December because as a CalPers retiree, he is limited on the number of hours he can work each fiscal year. Bradley has served in the position since February, following the departure in December of Rob Johnson.
The new city manager will be the sixth in the city's nine years since incorporation.
