Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley will be the honorary chair for the Riverside County Foundation on Aging's annual charity golf tournament.
The event will take place Oct. 6 at Menifee Lakes Golf course, announced Gloria Sanchez, Foundation on Aging president. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with tee time set at 10 a.m. for the tournament, which uses a four-person scramble format. Entry fee is $110. Online registration is available at this website.
"Federal funding for Older Americans Act services to seniors in Riverside County and across the country is shrinking," Sanchez wrote in a news release. "We can no longer rely on federal funds to shore up the safety net for vulnerable seniors, nor can we rely solely on public funding for these vital services. At the same time, an increasing number of seniors need help with nutrition, transportation and health services, and that is why the Foundation is working to strengthen, expand and support senior programs in Riverside County and looks to the Golf Tournament to raise awareness of issues facing seniors as well as to raise needed funding to provide for necessary support for seniors in greatest need."
The Foundation is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) and is completely funded through local donations.
