Linebacker Steven Bradshaw intercepted a pass inside the Paloma Valley 20-yard line with a minute left in the game to help preserve a 21-13 victory for the Wildcats football team over visiting Corona Friday night.
Corona was driving deep into Wildcat territory with time to score a touchdown that could've led to a tie score when Bradshaw stepped up and picked off a pass, giving the ball back to Paloma Valley with time running out. Paloma Valley improved its record to 3-1 with the victory.
The big finish capped off an impressive performance by the Wildcats. After falling behind 7-0, Paloma Valley tied the score early in the second quarter on an 8-yard run by Tyler Tinahui and PAT kick by Blaine Grillo.
Corona took a 13-7 lead midway through the second period, missing the PAT kick. But Paloma Valley took the lead for good at 14-13 on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Chance Nolan to Mason Carvalho and PAT kick just before halftime.
Paloma Valley's final score came on a 15-yard pass from Nolan to Carvalho with eight minutes to go in the third quarter.
Big tackles by Bradshaw and Damian Torres midway through the fourth quarter thwarted another Corona drive.
Next Friday, Paloma Valley plays its final nonleague game at Temecula Valley.
