Suspect sought in connection with double murder in Menifee

Sheriff's Department deputies are searching for the suspect in a double murder in Menifee Sunday night, authorities said Monday afternoon.

Jesus Sanchez Ponce, 39, is shown in a previous mug shot provided by the Sheriff's Department. He was last seen driving a brown 2007 GMC Sierra pick-up truck with California license plate 8H85193, according to a news release.

Deputies responding to a report of possible shots fired about 11 p.m. Sunday found two deceased Hispanic male adults at a location in the 25000 block of Waldon Road. Both sustained gunshot wounds that caused their deaths, according to authorities.

Ponce is listed as being from Mecca, a town in the Coachella Valley. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about this suspect is urged to call Master Investigator Alfaro of the Central Homicide Unit at 760-393-3528. If you see this suspect, call 911.

The names of the deceased will not be released until next of kin can be notified.
