Santa Rosa Academy’s football team won on Friday night, scoring a 35-0 victory at Heritage High in its first game of the season against the California School for the Deaf, Riverside.
In the first quarter of the game, Lance Burden scored a touchdown, following with a two-point conversion by Kaden Long, resulting in an 8-0 lead.
Connor Dougherty then scored a touchdown in the second quarter, giving the Rangers a 14-0 lead by halftime.
Throughout the game, the Rangers’ Ben Graves and Markel Chebat portrayed a strong defense and completed many tackles. Quarterback Andrew Snyder completed several passes against the Cubs.
By the third quarter, Nicolas Paradiang received the ball from CSDR’s kickoff and ran it all the way to the end zone, earning a touchdown for the Rangers and a 21-point lead against the Cubs.
Burden scored a second touchdown in the fourth quarter, along with a PAT by Mateo Rodriguez. With one minute left on the clock, Jack Donaldson scored the Rangers’ final touchdown and Rodriguez made the PAT once again, resulting in a final score of 35-0.
Next week, SRA plays Hamilton High School at Heritage and CSDR is at home against Vasquez.
