Opening of new Audie Murphy Road delayed until Sept. 22

The opening of a primary route through the newest development of Audie Murphy Ranch has been delayed three weeks for last-minute improvements, the City of Menifee has announced.

Audie Murphy Road will take motorists from the intersection of Normandy Road and La Ladera Road southwest to Goetz Road, through the heart of Brookfield Residential's newest Audie Murphy community, the Willow Tree neighborhood. That road will replace the westernmost stretch of Normandy, which will be permanently closed from La Ladera to Goetz.

The new road was scheduled to open on Wednesday, and the traffic signal at Goetz Road is open, but Audie Murphy Road will not be open all the way east until Sept. 22. At that time, it will link up with Normandy Road just to the west of La Ladera (see map below).

When completed, Audie Murphy Road will be a viable alternative to Newport Road for motorists traveling through that part of west Menifee. Many of the homes in the Willow Tree community are under construction and a large clubhouse already has been completed.

Road construction and signal adjustments between La Ladera Road and Berea Road to the east will continue through mid-October.

Audie Murphy Road is open at Goetz Road but remains closed heading further east.
