Evacuations were lifted Monday night for local neighborhoods near the Rose Fire, a brush fire which had covered about 200 acres on the hilly west side of Lake Elsinore and was 10 percent contained.
The fire was first reported at 2:22 p.m. near the 14800 block of Amorose Street, just west of Grand Avenue. Those streets were in the evacuation area in the late afternoon, along with Rockridge Road, Toft Street and Ainsworth Place. Several campgrounds in the area also were evacuated.
All evacuations had been lifted by 8:10 p.m. and Grand Avenue was re-opened, although officials urged caution by motorists in the area. The latest report from Cal Fire at 6:30 a.m., reported the fire still at 200 acres and 10 percent contained.
Several Investigators deteremined that the fire was caused accidentally "by equipment." No other details about the cause were given.
