Wildfire scorches 28 acres of brush in Nuevo

Firefighters from four agencies responded to a wildfire that covered 28 acres in a rural area near the intersection of Nuevo Road and Hansen Avenue Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 3:51 p.m., as several engine crews were already battling a brush fire in Menifee. Fire departments responding to the Nuevo fire included Riverside County, Pechanga, Murrieta and Hemet.

Full containment was expected late Thursday evening.
