A Moreno Valley man accused of using stolen credit cards and auto theft and with a felony warrant was arrested after a struggle in front of the Menifee Target store on Haun Road on Friday, May 26, according to a Sheriff's Department news release today.
Ramon Aguayo, 32, was located by deputies near the entrance to the store after Target security personnel reported that a suspicious person had made a possible fraudulent credit card purchase about 8:30 p.m. and was still in the parking lot. When Aguayo fought with deputies who tried to detain him, several bystanders came to their aid and the suspect was arrested.
An investigation revealed that the credit card Aguayo used belonged to the victim of a vehicle burglary which had just occurred in the parking lot of Powerhouse Gym, located in the 29000 block of Bradley Road. Investigators further learned that three vehicles had been burglarized in the gym's parking lot. A search of the suspect vehicle revealed stolen property from all three vehicles as well as a loaded Glock 9mm handgun, which had been stolen during a vehicle burglary in Los Angeles County.
A records check revealed that Aguayo had an active felony warrant for auto theft and evading in Los Angeles County. He also was out on bail from a recent auto theft investigation in Riverside County. He was booked at Southwest Detention center for the felony warrant, as well as felony burglary and gun charges.
