Evidence of mail and identity theft recovered last week is displayed by the Sheriff's Department. |
Sheriff's deputies serving a search warrant arrested a woman at a Homeland residence after finding stolen and forged checks, credit cards, driver's licenses and stolen mail, authorities said today.
Toya Calderon, 34, of San Diego was booked at Southwest Detention Center on forgery, fraud and identity theft charges, according to a news release. During a search of the residence May 10 on Sultanas Road in that city, deputies discovered the ID and mail theft items, most of which was stolen in Menifee, Murrieta and Temecula. More than 100 victims of fraud were identified.
The investigation is ongoing. Questions about this case should be directed to Deputy Cardinale at the Perris Sheriff's Station at 951-210-1000, or by email at PerrisStation@RiversideSheriff.org.
The Sheriff's Department reminds residents to make every attempt to prevent mail and identity theft by not mailing any personal information from unsecured mailboxes and to pick up mail promptly after delivery.
