Baseball standout Jacob Umathum and swimmer Leilani Giles have been named Menifee 24/7 April Athletes of the Month at Paloma Valley High School
Umathum has two saves and a 2.30 ERA for the baseball team. Pitching mostly in relief, the left-hander has struck out 31 and walked only 13 this season.
The Wildcats enter the last week of league play in first place with a 12-1 record, 21-3 overall.
Giles went undefeated in the 100 butterfly during the month of April. She holds the school record in that event.
She also swims butterfly for the Wildcats' 200 medley relay team that broke the school record by 2.5 seconds vs. Heritage. The previous record was set at league finals last year.
