The City of Menifee's commitment to creating family-friendly amenities was recognized recently by the designation of the city as a "2017 Playful City USA" community, city officials announced in a news release.
Menifee is one of only 31 cities in California and only 258 communities nationally to receive the award. Playful City USA honors cities for putting the needs of families first, so kids can learn, grow and develop life skills.
In addition to the maintenance of city parks and recreation facilities, Menifee recently re-opened the Audie Murphy Ranch Skate Park, including monthly programs conducted by DSTNY Project, a faith-based organization committed to economic development and building community. The City's Community Service Department also fosters youth development through a summer camp and Tiny Tots Pre-school that incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities for children.
"The City of Menifee works hard to provide outstanding classes, clean and safe parks and community programs to encourage Menifee residents to be active and enjoy the beautiful city in which we live," Menifee Mayor Neil Winter said in a prepared statement. "We are proud to receive this designation and we’re motivated to continue building a strong, active community in Menifee."
