Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Heritage High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's honorees from Heritage:
Kyle Tolle pitched 6 innings in a win over Lakeside and went 2 for 3 at the plate with the game-winning triple in another game for the baseball team, which is 16-6 overall.
Tolle's teammate, Trevor Salas, had a perfect on-base percentage in 7 plate appearances during two games against Perris.
Nathan Jauert ran a personal best in the 3200 against Perris, placing second and helping the boys track team score a team victory.
Senior Robert Papson of the boys tennis team "has been an outstanding player for our team this year," said his coach, Doug Fairchild. "He has been incredibly consistent on and off the courts and regularly anchors the team's point totals. His leadership is highly valued and much appreciated."
Also honored from the boys tennis team was the doubles team of Marco Arroyo and Carlos Ortiz. "They have provided a much needed balance and have greatly improved the overall effectiveness of our team," Fairchild said.
Pitcher Alejandra Delatorre has performed well on the mound and defensively for the softball team.
Anthony Metzger of the boys lacrosse team is a senior attacker "who has become a real threat on the field," said his coach.
Sophia Acosta of the girls track team won the 400 and took second in the 800 in a meet against Paloma Valley.
