This is the final week Menifee 24/7 will honor Athletes of the Week from winter sports teams at Paloma Valley High School. Here are the Wildcats' Athletes of the Week from the last two weeks:
Andres Muellar placed at numerous wrestling tournaments and grew as a leader of the team weekly, said his coach, Luis Robles. He competed in the CIF-SS Eastern Division championships.
Krystal Garlejo had an excellent rookie season among the girls wrestlers, peaking at the right time. She qualified for the CIF-SS finals, finishing in the top 16.
Lelaina Navarro of the girls wrestling team placed third at the CIF-SS Eastern Regionals, then seventh at the CIF finals, which qualifies her for the California State Championships.
Boys wrestler Savion Dixon is a having a breakout rookie year. He won an individual Sunbelt League Championship and earned All-CIF status, placing fourth at the CIF-SS Eastern Division tournament. He will compete at the CIF-SS Masters Meet.
The girls soccer team is honoring two athletes from the last two weeks.
Jordyn King is the anchor of the team's defense. "Jordyn is the best defender in the Southwest Riverside area," said her coach, Carlos Alfaro. "She's a first-team All-CIF player, and we all are very grateful to have her on our team."
Samantha Ritchie is a freshman who "stepped up big-time for us on defense," Alfaro said. "She started the season injured, but in the last month she has been very solid in her play."
Menifee 24/7 congratulates all the Athletes of the Week from Paloma Valley High winter sports teams this season. We will begin honoring spring sports athletes the week of March 6.
