The Paloma Valley High School girls soccer team will travel east to play top-seeded La Quinta High Tuesday in the second round of the CIF playoffs after winning its postseason opener on Thursday.
The Wildcats improved their record to 16-4-2 under first-year coach Carlos Alfaro with a 4-0 shutout of Tahquitz in their Division 4 playoff opener. Alyssa Moore, Miale Jones, Megan Whitcomb and Brianna Garcia scored goals for Paloma Valley.
La Quinta, which is 20-2-4 overall, advanced with a 2-1 win over Grand Terrace in the first round.
