The City of Menifee today announced an agreement with Barons Market to bring the popular specialty grocer to the Menifee Lakes Plaza.
The Plaza, now under construction at Newport Road and Antelope Road, is expected to open this spring. City officials previously announced agreements for that center with LA Fitness, Cafe Rio, Jamba Juice and a Chevron gas station, car wash and lube center.
This will be the eighth location for Barons Market, which is well-known for its wide selection of natural and specialty foods, organic products, craft beers, local produce and self-serve salad bars.
According to a city news release, the Menifee Barons Market will feature all of the company's popular amenities, including:
-- An oil and vinegar bar, which no other grocery store chain in California has
-- Hot soup bar, fresh salad bar and antipasto bar
-- Collaboration with local farms to being customers the best quality fresh produce
-- Products that cost 25-30 percent less than traditional supermarkets
-- More than 400 microbrews
"We are very excited to welcome Barons Market to Menifee," said Menifee Mayor Neil Winter. "A specialty grocer is something our residents have been requesting for many years. By Barons choosing Menifee, it is a testament to Menifee's growth, market demand, and regional pull."
The original plans for Menifee Lakes Plaza allow for a hotel. City officials recently announced plans to bring a major hotel to the Menifee Town Center across the freeway, but negotiations for a hotel on this site continue.
