Twelve players from Menifee high schools will represent the city Saturday night in the inaugural Riverside Sheriffs Association All-Star Football Classic.
The game will kick off at 7 p.m. at Norte Vista High School in Riverside. This is the only all-star high school football game featuring players exclusively from Riverside County.
Paloma Valley High School football coach Bert Esposito will serve as head coach of the South East team. He will be joined by seven players from the Wildcats team that finished last season 9-2. Heritage High, which won the Sunbelt League title and finished the season 11-1, will be represented by five players, including running back and linebacker Javier Luna.
Luna rushed for more than 1,100 yards last fall and was one of the team's leading tacklers with 62 solo tackles. He will be joined on the South East squad by Heritage teammates Anfernee Aubert (OL/DL), Khalil Jones (RB/DL), Cameron Dawson (WR/DB) and Scott Walther (OL/DL).
Paloma Valley's representation includes running back Corey Maddox, who rushed for 1,636 yards and 23 touchdowns last fall. Also representing the Wildcats will be Blake Moore, who caught 48 passes for 899 yards and excelled at defensive back as well.
Other Paloma Valley players are on the roster are Maleek Baranauskas (DT/G), Nick Naranjo (CB/WR), Andre Kirkpatrick (SS/RB), Seth Harris (DE/T) and Gary Carney (RB).
The game is presented by IE Sports Net, a sports talk radio show launched in 2012 to cover local sports. It is heard weekly on Fox Sports Radio 1350 AM/Riverside.
Head coach of the North West team is Daniel Barlage of Valley View High School.
Ticket prices start at $10 for adults and $7 for kids and students with school ID.
