Five people spent about 40 minutes in a vehicle stranded in 2-3 feet of flood water on Thursday before Riverside County firefighters rescued them from the car during a rainstorm, authorities said.

Firefighters responded at 3 p.m. to the scene, near the intersection of Paloma Road and Calle de Remo in the Romoland community in Menifee, according to a news release. Firefighters developed a plan to gain access to those inside the vehicle and all were rescued by 3:37 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
