As Menifee residents notice during this and any rainstorm, flooding continues to be a problem in some parts of the city. This includes Bradley Road where it crosses Salt Creek just north of Newport Road.
Steps are being taken to address this problem. One of the City of Menifee's road improvement projects is to build a bridge across the creek bed, thus avoiding the type of flooding that often occurs, sometimes closing portions of the road. As part of this process, the City has announced a public review period for the state-required paperwork prior to the start of this project.
Following is the official notice from the City:
NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION
BRADLEY BRIDGE OVER SALT CREEK
Public Review Period: Dec. 12, 2016 to Jan. 11, 2017. Notice is hereby given that a 30-day public review and comment period has been established pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for a draft Mitigated Negative Declaration, which has been prepared for the proposed project as identified below.
Project Name: Bradley Road Bridge over Salt Creek
Applicant: City of Menifee
Location: The Bradley Road Bridge Project (proposed project) is located within the City of Menifee, County of Riverside, California. This segment of Bradley Road is located between Potomac Drive to the north and Rio Vista Drive to the south, though the limits of work would extend beyond these streets.
Project Description: The City of Menifee is proposing to replace this low-flow crossing with an all-weather crossing (bridge), effectively raising the roadway out of the floodplain. The total area of potential disturbance is approximately 4.39 acres. The limits of work include temporary siting and disturbance areas.
Environmental Status: City of Menifee has performed an Initial Study, which has determined that with mitigation measures, no significant environmental impacts would result from the proposed project. Therefore, a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) is recommended for adoption.
The draft MND and supporting documents may be reviewed at:
-- City of Menifee – 29714 Haun Road, Menifee, California 92586
-- Paloma Valley Library – 31375 Bradley Road, Menifee, CA 92584
-- Sun City Library – 26982 Cherry Hills, Menifee, CA 92586
-- An electronic version of the draft MND may be reviewed on City’s website here.
Written comments regarding the adequacy of the draft Mitigated Negative Declaration must be received by City of Menifee at the address provided below by 5 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2017. A final environmental document incorporating public input will then be prepared for consideration by decision-making authorities. Comments concerning the project and analysis in the Draft IS/MND may be submitted to:
